I read a book once, whose title shall remain nameless, to protect the guilty. The author used the word convoluted at least once sometimes more on each page. Needless to say, I was not able to finish this convoluted story.
THINK ABOUT IT: DO YOU RECALL READING A BOOK WITH AN OBVIOUS AUTHOR ECHO? WAS THAT ECHO DISTRACTING? WAS THAT ECHO ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU PUT THE BOOK DOWN?
Most writers are perhaps not blatant abusers like our convoluted friend, however, upon close examination many writers will find they echo certain words. Use the tools available to detect and eliminate an echo that could nudge readers to put your book down.
